Carentan

It’s been awhile since I was able to do anything wargames related due to all the work that needed to be done to our house. That kept me busy for the better part of the year but with the end in sight and the wonderful anniversary gift of a 3D printer (actually 2 printers) by my dear wife I’m back in the game! ๐Ÿ™‚

I was lucky to discover a kickstarter for 3D print files of Normandy 1944 buildings by a German gentleman named Jens Najewitz. ย He offers an amazing array of buildings at a very low cost and he is very prolific. He has done a North-African, Normandy, Age of Pirates and now a Wild West kickstarter and of course, I backed them all. ๐Ÿ™‚ Consequently my next terrain projects will be a desert board (with 3D printed 8th Army and DAK vehicles and armour to game on it), a pirate board and of course a Wild West board.

The one you are looking at now is a “Band of Brothers – Attack on Carentan” type of board, completely printed from Jens’ 3D Normandy files. ย It is very loosely based on Carentan as it looked at the time of the assault by the 101st Airborne Division but it is not limited to that; I can use this board also as an early war Belgian or French village, for a Battle of the Bulge setting and much more with a little imagination and the right posters on the walls of the buildings.

I finished the basic layout after I took these pictures. I have a lot of painting to do now but that should go pretty fast with my trusted airbrush. I’ll post some more pictures when there is more to see.

PS. the MP40 hanging on the wall in one of the pics is also a 3D printed model in case you’re wondering. ๐Ÿ™‚

British Para’s

Before I moved from Belgium to the Philippines I made a start at building a 20mm Arnhem bridge terrain board. Not the entire thing of course, just the ramp of the bridge with a small section of bridge and the houses around the ramp where most of the fighting took place during Market Garden. I also want to do some Oosterbeek terrain boards.

Now that I have these wonderful 28mm para’s I’m thinking of doing this in 28mm. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  However I will have to wait until I am back in Belgium before I get cracking on this because moving large terrain boardsย  like these to Belgium will cost me of fortune.

I also bought the Warlord Games Pegasus Bridge set and want to do terrain boards for that one too but same thing; will have to wait as it is much easier and cheaper to ship a box with the unfinished model than large terrain boards.

Can’t wait for the day that we can finally pack our things and move back to Belgium. If only we could find a serious buyer for our house here in the Philippines but that is easier said than done. Don’t get me started on tales about selling a house in the Philippines… grrr. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, here they are, my British para’s.

US Airborne

I was not so happy with Warlord Games when I bought these through War and Peace Games Australia. The figures themselves are great but they arrived with almost every carbine barrel broken off and missing (I left most of them out of the pictures).ย  If you know, as a company, that your product is fragile and prone to breaking than put some more care into packaging them please. A blister is not the best way for this Warlord Games !
